“Designing for extremes, creates solutions that are better than when we design for the norm. And people with disabilities are great examples of extreme users.”

At Our Core

At Elise Roy, we capitalize on the unique experiences and skills of people with disabilities to uncover hidden needs and in the process create some of the most effective and cutting edge solutions out there - both for people with and without disabilities.

We place humans at the center of our design process and believe in the power of close observation, open minded experimentation, and simplification.

Did you know that the first typewriter was created in 1808 by Pellegrino Turri to help his blind lover?

Why

focus on people with disabilities? Designers are starting to recognize that when we design for extremes we often come up with solutions that are better than when we design for the norm. And people with disabilities are great examples of extreme users. History has proven again and again that focusing on their unique experiences has helped us uncover some of the most innovative solutions.

Elise explains this in her TEDx talk, featured on TED.com in July 2016 (gaining over 1 million views).

How

can we help? Design no longer refers to just aesthetics as it used to. We help our clients with:

  • Experience Design
  • Strategy Design
  • Tech Design
  • Policy Design
  • Program Design
  • Product Design

And... like all good design, we are constantly evolving. If you do not see something that fits your project, ask us.
